Merge two partitions with GParted

I-ve been looking for merging partitions with GParted but I-ve only found it as a request (http://gparted-forum.surf4.info/viewtopic.php?id=150).

I-ve been able to @merge@ two consecutive partitions, but only if one of them is unused. That-s what i did..

  1. Run GParted from a liveCD. In my case I want to merge the root partition with an unused partition.
  2. Delete the unused partition getting its unallocated space.
  3. Resize/move the next partition to the left/right to get all of the unallocated space.
  4. Apply the changes and wait.
